Prayer is like cheese, there are different types. In Matthew chapter six Jesus instructs us to go in to our rooms and pray privately. In Matthew 18:19-20 Jesus tells us to pray together. 'And I tell you more: whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them.' These two verses are not contradictory, there is a time to pray by yourself and a time to pray with other Christians. Jesus tells us praying with other christians, even in a group as small as two, unleashes a special portion of God's power. Obviously you have to pray for things that align with God's will so I'm probably not going to make you win the lottery (the Bible says that you shouldn't gamble).
Why not meet up with another Christian friend (or two) to pray during the week.
