Dancing is one way to worship God. Psalm 149:3 says, Praise his name by dancing and playing music on harps and tambourines. Unfortunately most dance classes do not glorify God. Mount Pleasant Baptist Church has a dance group called Soul to Sole which runs weekly classes during the school terms. It is for girls and guys in years 2 to 11 but older teens are welcome to apply as well. They have a free concert on Saturday, 1st December from 6:15pm - 8:30pm at 497 Marmion Street, Booragoon, Western Australia. You can find more details about Soul to Sole here.

Dr Patricia Weerakoon is a Christian sexologist from Sri Lanka who now lives in Australia. She has some excellent things to say about sexuality from a Christian view point. Here are a couple of points from her Science, the World and the Word of God talk on Wednesday night.
If you're in Perth on Friday, 27th July, Dr Patricia Weerakoon will be speaking at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on the topic of Sex: what's God got to do with it? Patricia is a Christian sexologist who has written several books. I have reviewed two of them on this site, Growing up by the Book and Teen Sex by the Book. The event is free but organisers ask that you register online. It will start at 6:00 with food vans (so bring some $$$). Patricia will be speaking to youth at 7:00 and parents at 8:00. You can find out more and register here.
The Youth Alive Western Australian Conference, Wild Ones, is coming up at the end of this month. It will be held on 26th - 27th April at Riverview Church in Burswood. You can find out more information and register here. For events in other states, google Youth Alive in your state.
If you are a school leaver heading to university this year (and live in Western Australia) then Kickstart is for you. It's a camp run by AFES and is a great way to get to know other Christian students in your area. It runs from 14th-16th February and costs $170. You can register here.
There are also commencement camps in South Australia and Queensland. Power to Change (formerly Student Life) has camps in April. AFES has a connect page to find out groups and camps in your area. Scripture Union offers alternatives for Leavers and Schoolies in various locations around the country. In Western Australia the destinations are:
Western Australia Queensland New South Wales (fancy doing Schoolies in Vanuatu?) If you live in Sydney check out these two upcoming events. Click on the images for more information.
If you live in or around Perth, check out these two youth events on 17th and 18th March. The first is called Is God Relevant? with guest speaker Dan Paterson from RZIM. There will also be music, games and food vans. The second is Reboot and provides an opportunity for Christians and non-christians to raise questions. Both events will be held at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. They are $6 and $11 respectively and tickets are available at try booking.com. For more info see www.mounties.org.au.
