We just commemorated ANZAC Day last Wednesday. Throughout history there have been many teenage soldiers. In World War One there were as many as 250,000 soldiers under the age of 18 in the British Army alone. Last week I read an interesting article by John Piper about teenagers engaging in spiritual warfare. He said,
"Don't be part of the blind, teenage masses who do not know what is going on. They think that to know the latest movie or iPhone app or hit song is to know what is going on. Those things are like cut flowers. Bright today, tossed out tomorrow... What is really going on is that people and nations are being enslaved by Satan or liberated by Christ. And Christ fights his liberating warfare through Christians, including teenage Christians." Piper warned that three particular battlefields were a danger to teenagers today:
World Vision, Compassion and TEAR are Christian Aid organisations working around the world in areas of extreme poverty. You may not have enough money to sponsor a child, but perhaps you can organise a fundraiser and donate the money to one of these organisations. $50 will help three people access clean water and $200 will provide immunisations for 200 babies.
Here are some fundraising ideas:
Adding a Bible verse to your wall is a great way to decorate your room and to meditate on the Word of God. You can buy verses from Etsy and other online stores. I you have a cutting device such as a Brother Scan'n'cut you can make your own. Company's such as Vinyl Lettering Direct will custom make them also.
