When I was in high school my peers used to tell rude jokes and have crude discussions often. The temptation was to join in - it was funny after all. But Ephesians 5:4 says, Obscenity, foolish talk, and coarse joking are also out of place. Instead, give thanks. Paul had just been warning the Ephesian church about sexual immorality and impurity. In verse four he said we shouldn't even talk or joke about it either.
If you're a Christian you shouldn't join in with crude jokes and conversations. You shouldn't engage in foolish, pointless, or silly talk either. Your faith should be reflected in what you say. Paul says that we should give thanks instead. How do you rate in this area?
