The girls at Beauty Redefined suggest that one of the methods of coping with our own body shame is to have a faith in something higher purpose. They said, "When women are able to place their lives and experiences in the context of a bigger picture - one where they aren't defined by their appearance alone - those body-related concerns lose power and shame is lessened." In other words when we place our focus on God and off of ourselves, our concern about how we look fades.
Matthew 6:25 says, Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? I'm sure if Jesus was speaking to the modern church he would tell us not to worry about our body shape too. Verse 34 goes on to say, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness.
