Romans 5:3 says, And we are also happy with the troubles we have. Why are we happy with troubles? Because we know that these troubles make us more patient. This verse sounds crazy but fits right in to the upside down Gospel of Jesus - the first shall be last (Matthew 19:30), if you want to be great, be the least (Matthew 23:12), whoever wants to save his life will lose it (Matthew 16:5). You get the idea.
Romans 5:3-4 in the International Children's Bible says, And we also have joy with our troubles because we know that these troubles produce patience. And patience produces character, and character produces hope. So our troubles help us to be patient, which grows our character and hope. The next time you are experience suffering or troubles, remember that it is growing your character, patience and hope.
