I have just finished reading Jonathan McKee's book, The Teen's Guide to Social Media and Mobile Devices: 21 Tips to Wise Posting in an Insecure World. You can take a sneak peak here. The book is easy to read, up-to-date (published in 2017), full of interesting information and real life stories. Jonathan gave some Bible verses and looked at the topic from a Christian world view, but the principles are relevant for all teens. There are discussion questions at the end of each short chapter so I think it would work well as a small group study too. I highly recommend it!

Beautiful - beauty tips for the soul is by Perth author, Elaine Fraser. In a world obsessed with physical beauty, it's refreshing to read about inner beauty which the Bible says is way more important. Each section of the book has stories from real women plus a SOAP section - Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer. The book is really well presented with lots of photos and colourful pages. Elaine has also written Beautiful Too.
As the cover suggests, this book is recommended for ages 15 or over. Dr Patricia Weerakoon provides research to back up the Bible's view on saving sex for marriage. During sexual intimacy, the hypothalamus and pituitary gland release oxytocin and vasopressin which make you feel bonded to your partner. So basically you form a mini bond with everyone you have sex with. She explained that this is a bit like superglueing yourself to each partner, then tearing away. Though there is no physical damage, there is emotional and psychological damage done when you sleep with multiple partners.
This book is an adaptation of Max Lucardo's Outlive Your Life for teens. His daughter, Jenna Lucardo Bishop and Natalie Gillespie have also had an input. It's a no-nonsense book that reminds us that life is not about us - we were put on this planet to serve God and serve others. I love the examples of children and teens who are living this out. The book is full of ideas on how you can make a difference. A must read for every teen. You can take a sneak peak at the book at www.koorong.com.
Kari Kamparis originally wrote this as a blog post but was approached by a publisher to write a book on this topic. I wish this book had existed when I was a teenager - every girl should read it. Truth #6 is You weren’t made to worship yourself. Kari says, We live in a culture of girl power. I love strong, brave, confident women, but please recognize the difference between self-love and self-worship.
If you can, read this book. You can get a hard copy or kindle version. If you can't get a hold of a copy, you can find the 10 Truths on Kari's blog. This book is a collection of over 50 articles from the fervr.net webste. This website is the best online resources for Christian teens with over 2000 articles.
