Christians are like lamps, God is the electricity that powers us and His love is the light. The only way that people can see the light is if we put his love into action, if we do good. Jesus says that when people see the good that we do they will praise Him. I don't know about you, but I find it hard to do good for others, I'm usually more interested in me. A lamp needs to be plugged in to work. That's why we need to be plugged into God. We do this by reading the Bible, praying, worshipping Him, meditating on Him, thanking Him etc.

If you know anything about music you will know that some notes sound really bad when played together and some notes sound really good, they harmonise. Paul instructs us in Romans to live in harmony with one another. So what does that really mean? The rest of chapter 12 gives us some clues:
I recently bought this book from Koorong. It is written in dot points so it is easy to read. As someone who has been adulting for quite a while now, I can say from experience that all the points are true. The advice is in categories such as moving home, keeping a job, financial advice etc. Even though the book is written for an American audience, it is still relevant to readers around the globe. I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but I like this one and the small format is cool. It would make a great gift.
In the Lord's prayer in Matthew, Jesus tells us to ask God to forgive our sins, just as we forgive others. In verse 15 it warns us, but if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins - they are some pretty heavy words. 1 John 1:9 it says, But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. So if we ask God to forgive us and forgive other people it's all good.
Is there something that you need to ask God to forgive you for? Is there someone who has hurt you who you need to forgive? |
